On this marvelous volcanic island you will also find Klima, a traditional settlement of unparalleled beauty with a long history dating back several centuries. Although the sunset of Klima is one of the top reasons why travelers visit the village, what many may not know is that it is also the home of Aphrodite. This is due to the fact that in 1820, on a trail very close to the settlement that connects the most important historical landmarks of the area, the famous statue of Venus de Milo was found, which is its \"Sirmata\". \"Sirmata\" are two-storey houses of classical Cycladic architecture, located very close to the sea, which were used by the fishermen of the area for storing their fishing boats and equipment. The ground floor was used as a storage space, while the upper floor served as a place for them to live. The distinguishing feature of these buildings is their colorful doors, which are all painted in bright shades of green, yellow, blue, orange, etc. These doors were painted in this way so that it would be easy for the fishermen to recognize them as they were returning from the sea. Today, \"Sirmata\" have become one of the most important attractions of Klima, and of the island in general. Furthermore, you can find catacombs dating back to the Early Christianity period, while the Ancient (Roman) Theater of Milos is also located nearby.
